Chair – Local Organising Committee
Dr Ryan Baring is a postdoctoral researcher at Flinders University. His research spans a wide variety of intertidal and subtidal habitats in estuaries, bays, harbours and open coastlines. In those habitats Ryan has investigated marine pest monitoring and incursions, impacts of resource industry construction and decommission, dredging operations in ports and harbours, functioning of detrital pathways, marine park zoning and drought response of estuaries. His work is not necessarily focused on the animals or flora under investigation but more about ecosystem processes in regions under study to improve management outcomes. He also has strong interest in improving the scientific rigour of ecological research by refining statistical processes to answer complex ecological questions. Ryan is current Chair of the South Australian Branch of the Australian Marine Sciences Association.
