Chair – Scientific Committee
Sabine is Professor for Marine Biology at Flinders University. Her research centres around coastal ecosystem ecology, specialising on benthic communities and resilience. Recent research emphasis includes effects of environmental water management on estuaries, coastal restoration and carbon capture, as well as marine invasive species. She is working closely at the interface between research and environmental management, through translation of research into scientific advice to achieve ecosystem health and conservation outcomes. Sabine was the national president of the Australian Marine Sciences Association from 2012-2014 and on the executive team of the National Marine Science Committee, driving Australia’s National Marine Science Plan. She is also a member of the National Committee for Ecology, Evolution and Conservation of the Australian Academy of Science. Previous conference organisation includes leading the scientific committee for the 2009 AMSA conference on ‘Marine Connectivity’.
